Biography

Initially setting her sights on becoming a pediatric surgeon, Dr. Politano changed her mind when she began performing complex C-sections and hysterectomies. Passionate about women’s healthcare, she especially loves the challenges these types of surgeries and high-risk obstetric patients present — not surprising when you consider that she earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree in civil and structural engineering before she went to medical school.

Working in women’s healthcare not only satisfies her need for surgical and intellectual challenges but presents her with an opportunity to provide continuity of care, often absent in other surgical specialties. That continuity of care includes the joy of handing a mother her newborn baby, which for Dr.Politano remains the single most rewarding part of being an OB-GYN. She also takes pride in ensuring that her patients feel heard. She wants you to feel confident in her care.

Dr. Politano’s commitment to community service was displayed during her residency, where she coordinated drives to collect feminine products and donate them to local homeless and women’s shelters. Continuing in this vein, she hopes to travel to underserved countries where she can share her surgical skill and provide OBGYN care where it is desperately needed.

Passions beyond her professional life include watching football with her family, which includes her husband, two awesome stepsons, and two dogs. Not content just to watch football (all are Philadelphia Eagles and Virginia Tech Hokie fans), Dr. Politano and her husband also are connected to the local sports community where they both play flag football and Dr. Politano hopes to begin kickball again soon. They also love cruises and exploring new countries.
