Biography
Michael A. White, MD has been dedicated to providing excellent health care to his patients for more than 20 years. “I was inspired to become a physician by my desire to help people through medical illnesses, and I strive to improve their quality of life,” Dr. White says. “I was especially drawn to Obstetrics and Gynecology, as it is a field which provides a wide spectrum and diversity of challenges: combining fundamental primary care of medical disorders with surgical care and delivering new lives to families.”
Knowing that it is crucial for his patients to be as informed as possible about their healthcare, Dr. White takes a personal approach with them and encourages family involvement. He understands the importance of the examination, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of all aspects of women’s health. Dr. White believes in treating each patient with respect and dignity and he listens closely to his patients’ concerns.
Dr. White’s colleagues have recognized him as an outstanding physician in Obstetrics and Gynecology. In 2003, he was selected by his peers for inclusion in the Tarrant County’s Top Doctors annual listing of the best physicians in the county. He was selected as “Best OB/GYN” in Keller by the readers of the Keller Citizen in 2011, 2010 and 2009.
Virtually all of Dr. White’s gynecologic surgery is performed as an outpatient procedure, focusing on minimally invasive techniques. Outpatient procedures include endometrial ablations and Essure (sterilization). Most of these can even be performed in an office setting for the patient’s convenience. For the past several years, Dr. White has performed laparoscopic hysterectomies using the da Vinci robotic system. The method provides patients with less postoperative pain and leads to easier recovery. Due to his extensive training, Dr. White was certified to perform nuchal translucency sonograms by The Fetal Medical Foundation in London for minimally invasive Down’s Syndrome Screening in 2002.
Dr. White has been married to his high school sweetheart, Carol, for over 35 years. They have three children, the eldest of whom, Chris, is a surgical resident at UT Southwestern. He is following his father’s footsteps into the medical field. Chris and his wife, Sarah (who is an OBGYN), have a son named Jacob. Dr. White loves spending time with his grandson. Their daughter, Lauren, graduated in 2016 with her Masters in Counseling from Dallas Baptist University. She also works as Dr. White’s scribe part time. Their youngest son, Dimitri, is attending college and joined the U.S. Marine Corps. When Dr. White has some free time, he enjoys outdoor lake activities, skiing, boating and traveling with his family. He likes exercising and early morning runs with his running buddy, a Black Labrador named Abby.
