Biography

Melissa Torres is a Certified Nurse Midwife who graduated from Frontier Nursing University with a Master of Science in Nursing degree in 2017.  She is originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and relocated to Virginia in 2001 while serving on active duty in the United States Marine Corps.  Following eight years of service she pursued a career in nursing.  She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from George Mason University in 2010.  Following her passion for women’s health she went on to work as a labor and delivery nurse for over five years and later worked as an outpatient clinical Ob/Gyn nurse while completing her graduate studies.

Melissa believes that her role as a midwife is to partner with women while offering them the guidance and support necessary to make decisions about their healthcare needs.  She has a special interest in pregnancy, supporting physiologic labor/birth and maternal mental health.

Melissa lives with her husband, two boys and a very playful dog.  When she is not working, she enjoys spending time outdoors with her family, gardening and cooking.
